Gliders for oceanographic and pelagic fish observations
A deployment of a glider, an autonomous underwater vehicle, will be conducted during spring every two years in and around the offshore wind least site. The glider will be fitted with a CTD sensor to determine water depth, temperature, salinity, and density; an optics puck measuring chlorophyll-a and colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) fluorescence; an optode measuring dissolved oxygen, an Acoustic Zooplankton Fish Profiler (AZFP) multi-frequency echo sounder for active acoustic detection of pelagic organisms, and a fish telemetry receiver to track tagged species moving through the region. These deployments will provide information about pelagic organism abundance and distribution in relation to ocean properties in and around the OCW lease site.
